One of the pieces of putting your house on the market that can become more overwhelming than it needs to is the process of getting it ready to make the listing. Now that you’ve decided that it’s time to place your home, the team at Assist-2-Sell would like to help you with some tips and tricks that will make it easier for your house to be showing-ready while also helping you get a head start on the process of the big move. Check it out.

Keep the Essentials

One of the things that you can do to make your house look bigger is free up some of the space in your home. It’s incredible how much we can acquire throughout our lives, and it’s not until we’re moving that we really realize just how much stuff we have.

As you prepare for your house to be placed on the market, we suggest decluttering as much of your home as possible. Go through your home and keep the essentials so that the home still looks lived in without looking cluttered.

The good news here is that you’re able to open up some space in the home, making the rooms look even more appealing while also getting a head start on your packing! Sounds like a win-win to us.

Stay Showing-Ready

The housing market has always been competitive, but it’s incredibly competitive lately. With people looking for homes every day, it’s vital that you are ready for a showing at the drop of a pin. As your realtors, we want to make sure that we are taking full advantage of our real estate property listings — including yours!

If we have a buyer that is interested in your house, the first thing that we’re going to suggest is that they stop by the house and see it for themselves. There’s nothing like seeing your next home in person to seal the deal. That being said, it’s necessary that you are ready for any and all guests that may be viewing the house. On top of that, be open to any opportunities for a showing! Who knows when the right buyer will be walking through the door — until they do.

Spruce Up the Front Door

The first thing that people will we see when they visit your home for a showing will be the front door. This is the place where they will one day welcome family and friends into their home, and it’s the first impression that they’ll get of the house. If you want to make that first impression a good one, make sure that your front door and entryway are looking their absolute best.

Regardless of the time it takes — sweep, spray down, put planters out, whatever. These little things are sure to leave a lasting impression and will pay back in ten folds the time that you spend on them.

Do the Deep Cleaning & Repairs in Advance

We’ve saved the (least) fun for last! Cleaning and repairs are far from being the most enjoyable part of selling your home, but they’re a part nonetheless. Two of the things that you can always count on when selling your home is an appraisal and an inspection. Because these are two things that you can guarantee — plan for them in advance!

Before the house is on the market or there are any showings scheduled, account for any major repairs and issues that will eventually be accounted for. If it’s not something that you’re going to fix or clean, that’s fine. However, if there is something that you’re conscious of that isn’t going to suck up too much time or too much money, then go ahead and get it taken care of before the inspector brings it up as an issue.
