MLS is a common real estate acronym that stands for “Multiple Listing Service.” Essentially, the MLS is a giant database of home listings categorized by region. For real estate agents to be able to use MLS services, they must pay a fee. Because only certified real estate agents have access to the database, they are responsible for posting information about their homes for sale. While the MLS has associated fees and partially explains why real estate brokerage fees are so high, it is still the highest trafficked market for home listings.
